“Toward the end of the discussion I explained: “People make all kinds of different decisions about gender. Sometimes, as we grow, we might not want to pick one or the other, and that’s OK; we don’t have to.” I wanted them to begin to see that our lessons were not only about expanding the gender boxes that we’ve been put into, but also questioning or eliminating them altogether…”

December 17, with love
It’s been harder for me to honor December 17 (the International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers) this year. It feels like endless struggle, endless mourning. Like the hurdles are too large.
There’s healing in mourning, but what I’ve been needing is the hope that rekindles an activist’s fire. Renewed purpose, not tears on cheeks.
It was tough to admit to myself...

A Logical Solution (on "Making Sex Workers Visible...
As commented on Michelle Chen’s thoughtful piece, “Making Sex Workers Visible in the Village Voice Ad Controversy”:
Advertising online allows sex workers (of all types - let’s keep in mind that while the attacks on Backpage’s adult ads are focused on the escort section, phone, cam, and pro-BDSM workers also advertise on this site) to work in greater safety and to...

…That guy found out about it because the mainstream media covered it.
So many times the left would rather be pure than win battles. We would rather be self-assured that we are right, that we always use the appropriate language, that we have read the right theorists and the right histories and our friends are refreshingly diverse and we recycle and buy long-lasting...

Stacey Swimme (from Sex Workers’ Outreach Project) on CNN’s Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell, discussing the Long Island serial killer. Jane claims Stacey doesn’t “look like” a sex worker. Stacey’s response is brilliant and real.
YES!!!!! Stacey Swimme is my hero and friend.
YES! So frustrated by the way the media has handled this but she responds as always with...

Some days I love my job.
I just got the most fun, interesting email from a client about a roleplay he wants to discuss. The best kind, with a plot, and motives, and props…
And once again it hits me. I get PAID to ROLEPLAY. I want to go back in time and tell 16 year old me, fresh off giving my friend a lapdance after my first D&D game, the good news:
There is a job for people like you, and there is no 401(k),...

All I can add to this is: yes, yes, and yes. Know your boundaries going in and be ready to adjust them on the fly/protect them without breaking your stride/find new ones you never thought you’d have.
We work in sexuality like finger paint, and that means sometimes we smear it everywhere. It’s a messy, dirty, hands-on experience but at least we leave our mark. We’re in life up to...

Calling All Allies: Announcing SWAAY!
Indie pornographer, sex worker, and sexual-political blogger Furry Girl has just announced the launch of a promising new project:
I’m going to be starting a new sex workers rights project. The name I’ve chosen for it is SWAAY, which stands for Sex Work Activists, Allies, and You. Of all the names I considered, I picked this one because it best explains what I want to do in two ways: outreach...

On Clients
Sometimes my callers and other clients let me know they feel a little sad and distant when I refer to them like that. There’s a boundary there, and they feel it, and to them it so often means that’s all they are to me; just customers, nothing more.
Only I don’t say customers, I say callers and clients, because to me, my clients are something special, and often very dear to me....

What They Really Think About Dommes
It’s interesting, as a mostly-dominant switch, to see how certain dominant and submissive men view female dominance. Here’s my tongue-in-cheek take on what they’re really thinking:
Dominant men: Secretly believe all dominant women long to submit to a “real” (dominant) man.
Submissive men: Secretly believe all dominant women long to submit to/get fucked by a...

Something soft and sweet
When she kissed her, she tasted it fresh again; bitter and juicy like raspberry, the taste of a new love whose endpoint had already been defined. It wasn’t time, not yet, but Danni could feel the day was coming - and kissed her all the harder. She had pressed a silver lovers’ knot on a chain into her hand. “For what might be.” Danni squeezed it inside her fist, scrunched up...

It's the sex, not the grinding.
I spent 5 hours with a favorite phone sex caller last night, and he didn’t come. We chatted, and vented, and discussed, and fantasized, and it just didn’t happen, though neither one of us was exactly unsatisfied. (S)he said something that stuck with me: Most people, when they think of sex, think of a few standard things. Positions. Tab A/Slot B intercourse. They don’t imagine the...

power hungry
It’s magic, and I need it. I need the immersion of it, I need the meditation on it, I need the absolution in it. I need to stand at the doorway with my crop or my words and my restraints, holding you back, pushing you, testing you, making you beg, making you push yourself as much as you need the struggle, surrender and release in this. I want to answer the ache in you. I want you to know your...
It’s so funny that we think of sexuality as something we share with others, because I’m at my most sexual and creative when I’m not pursuing it to share with anyone. Sex becomes a way to relate to others through this deep well of need and desire and intentional wickedness within me; I share it because when I pull it through me I’m having too much fun not to share.

(This is a reprint of a favorite from 2006 I just happened to come across. Enjoy.)
Sit down.
Shut up.
Hold still.
You could tug my garters off with your teeth, from where you’re sitting.
You know it’s never going to happen, but I want you to think about it. Think about kissing me right where the nylon stocking tops almost give way to skin. Think about darting your tongue over...

Is sex for the disabled the last taboo? - Times... →
Not to mention thinking of the disabled as children, and we know how the world feels about sexually active youth…
nightmarebrunette:
“Claims that health professionals ignore the sexual needs of disabled people arguably reflect a general taboo about sex and imperfection. In March this year there was much media debate after Lucy Baxter told a BBC television programme that she wanted to help...

Hello, world
It’s easier to write without distractions, without unlimited possibility. With limitations. I’m slowed down typing with my thumbnails, but I’m writing, and on Brigid’s day that’s enough. I think you’ll quickly see what I’m doing here. It’s a renewed inspiration (and I think a taste of something still to come). I won’t say it - I’ll just...
